NANAIMO B.C. – B.C. Green Party members in Nanaimo have chosen Michele Ney as their candidate for the upcoming by-election to replace outgoing MLA Leonard Krog. Voting took place online for 24 hours and in-person at Saturday’s nomination meeting.
“I am truly honoured that members of the party have chosen me to represent the B.C. Green Party in the by-election”, Ney said. “We’re going to hit the ground running. Folks in this riding are excited for the opportunity to vote for a B.C. Green who can push government in the right direction – supporting the emerging economy, building 21st-century transportation options, and investing in the next generation through education. I am also very grateful to my fellow contestant Duane Nickull for making this an exciting, collegial nomination contest. I look forward to working with him on this campaign.”
“I have been very excited about this nomination contest, because we had two stellar contestants with strong visions for Nanaimo”, said party leader Andrew Weaver. “I would like to thank them both for putting so much time and energy into their nomination campaigns. This is an exciting time for voters in Nanaimo who can vote for a party that brings a collaborative approach to legislature, supporting good policy and constructively improve bad policy.”
“I’m absolutely delighted that the BC Green Party had a very collegial nomination campaign; we are united moving forward”, Nickull said. “Personally I want to thank the party staff for the time and effort that they put into it. I wish Michele the very best on this campaign. I will be supporting her all the way through.”
